The overwhelming sentiment? Move forward with the $6,000 project as county officials await a reply about the construction agreement from owners of Ballyhoo Grill.

"We didn't get anybody who was necessarily opposed to it," said Steve Valdez, a county spokesman. "Some people were opposed to the financial end of it, but that's a decision that's up to the Board of County Commissioners."

Residents had until June 15 to submit comments about the project at Ehrlich Road and Gunn Highway, which proposed use of a limited crossing of the Upper Tampa Bay Trail to connect to the restaurant's parking lots, said Valdez. The proposal also suggests using a portion of the trail for right-of-way for parking.

"We're talking about a very - as road work goes - low-ticket item," said Valdez.
