Carrollwood Auto Shop To Host Women’s Car Care Education Event
The free seminar will take place at the Honest-1 Auto Care franchise on Dale Mabry.

TAMPA, FL – For a large portion of the population, going to an auto repair shop can be a nerve-wracking experience. Many people without technical experience with cars and trucks put their trust in people who may not have their best interest in mind.
That’s why George Maajoun, the Carrollwood Honest-1 Auto Care franchise owner, will host a free Women’s Only Car Care Seminar on Tuesday, March 14 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The auto shop is located at 14318 N. Dale Mabry Highway.
During the event, participants will learn things like how to change a tire, check fluids, change oil and keep a car in top condition.

According to RepairPal.com, an independent agency that certifies auto repair shops nationwide, 77 percent of respondents said mechanics are more likely to sell women unnecessary repairs.
“That is a huge percentage,” Maajoun said. “Honest-1 Auto Care is determined to change that. A woman cannot be talked into buying unnecessary parts when she has the knowledge about what is going on underneath their hood.”

The seminar is a way for women from different walks of life to feel confident when they step into Honest-1 Auto Care or any auto repair shop, Maajoun said. For example, when one of Honest-1’s service advisors recommend two new tires to a customer, Maajoun said they want the customers to fully understand why they’ve recommended it.
“We want our customers to be educated in how to tell the difference from a good tire and a bad tire, or how to keep up with the maintenance of their tires,” he said. “Women come in for an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, but how many of those women can say they actually know how the process of that oil change actually goes?”
Maajoun said keeping their customers better informed works out the best for everyone in the long run, whether it’s their day-to-day policies or the women’s seminar.
“Honest-1 has always satisfied customers by checking cars thoroughly to determine what repairs are necessary and what repairs can wait until later,” he said. “We have found that this will save our customers money and we hope to educate women in our community about their vehicles and how to care for them to fight this industry stigma.”
This is the first time the Carrollwood Honest-1 Auto Care will host this event, but Maajoun said he hopes to make it a quarterly event. Maajoun recommended for participants to wear casual and comfortable clothing.
Women interested in attending the Women’s Only Car Care Seminar are asked to RSVP by Wednesday, March 9 to make sure there are enough supplies for all participants. RSVPs can be made by calling the shop at (813) 252-2714, e-mailing gmaajoun@honest2carrollwood.com or stopping by the auto shop itself.
