Cultural Center Kicking off Children's Theatre Series

The series begins on Aug. 26.

This just in from the Carrollwood Cultural Center:

The Carrollwood Cultural Center will kick off its 2012/2013 Children’s Theatre Series on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. with Sherlock Holmes & The Opera Mystery, performed by A.C.T. for Youth.

The show will open a new season of theatre performances for children, most of which educate while entertaining. In the new season, the Center will welcome several theatre companies: A.C.T. for Youth; Play’N Around Theatre Company; Broadway Bound; Shana Banana; and The New Christy Minstrels.

The 2012/2013 Children’s Theatre Series will include:

  • Sherlock Holmes & The Opera Mystery; Sunday, Aug. 26 at 2 p.m.; By A.C.T. for Youth
  • Little Red Riding Hood; Sunday, Sept. 23 at 2 p.m.; By Play’N Around Theatre Company
  • How to Eat Like a Child; Sunday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m.; By Broadway Bound
  • Florida Treasures: A Viva Florida History Exploration; Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 10:30 a.m.; By A.C.T. for Youth
  • Elves and the Shoemaker; Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m.; By Play’N Around Theatre Company
  • Shana Banana’s Merry Chriskwanzanukah; Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.; By Shana Banana
  • Once Upon a Time, Harmony & Rhyme: Sharing the Gift of Our Music; Monday, Jan. 7 at 10:30 a.m.; By The New Christy Minstrels
  • Shana Banana’s Bananimagination; Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.; By Shana Banana

All performances in the Children’s Theatre Series will be held at the Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road in Tampa. Tickets are $6/members; $7/non-members; $24/Family Four-Pack.
