WESTCHASE, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested a Tampa man accused of throwing nunchucks at a driver who told him to stop texting and driving.
Shortly after noon on Saturday, Oct. 26, deputies said Leonardo Fernandez, 56, was driving on West Linebaugh Avenue when he cut off a white van. The van driver pulled up next to Fernandez' car and gestured for him to put down his phone and stop texting and driving.
Deputies said Fernandez became enraged and started driving recklessly. When they reached a red traffic light at the intersection of Sheldon Road, Fernandez got out of his car and threw a pair of nunchucks, a type of martial arts weapon, at the van. The nunchucks shattered the rear window.
