Neighbors Can Come Together To Help Homeless Pets
Neighbors helping neighbors can find homes for abandoned pets.

OPINION
I’m writing this little article to try to bring attention to the number of pets in Carrollwood Northdale and Lutz that need homes.
From my personal only experience, the rash of tenants that have moved into the area during Covid, adopted pets, and then moved out leaving them..and then as well as some questionable people leaving pets, in what they think is “ a nice neighborhood” causes a lot of us to be caring for pets that show up or that are not our own.
Since the rescue clubs and shelters are so overflowing, I was thinking that it would be nice if we had a community … a neighborhood helping neighborhood webpage….. where those families looking to adopt a loving pet for their kids, or for themselves AND who live in the Carrollwood Northdale Lutz area, could look at or adopt pets that are currently being fostered or taken in by their own neighbors, with big hearts, who also are residents of Lutz Carrollwood and Northdale?

Neighborhood helping neighborhood specifically for these abandoned pets in our own neighborhoods. I do see a lot of people posting lost and found pets on pawboost.com and in next-door and as well in our popular PATCH.!!!
It is really the wonderful people with big hearts who find the pets …lost or abandoned, and try to locate the owner. Some of these pets live right around the corner and they just like to roam to the next neighbor for an extra meal so we got to be careful and find out who owns them before they get rehomed. We need try to get more pets microchipped for 15 or $25 to dramatically reduce the number of dogs and cats who have difficulty finding the way home in our area!

I wonder what effect putting a separate listing or a separate website for our own neighborhood available adoptions cats and dogs would help?
Right now they’re mixed into classifieds and other conversations, unless they are on pawboost specifically, which is mainly for lost and found.
If one is never claimed and has no microchips after a long time on the lost website and pictures have been given to the vet's office and no one recognizes the cat or the dog, it would be nice to be able to list for adoption if the person who found them can’t keep them ….within our own neighborhoods…and possibly foster them until one of our own neighbors is in the market to adopt a pet.
It's just a thought. Contact me if anybody thinks that might be a good idea and could make a website or maybe we could have a special spot in the Patch. Thanks for listening. Lots of peace and kindness your way.
