RC Track at Lake Park Getting Overhaul

There currently is no timeline regarding the completion of the project.

Fans of radio-controlled cars have one less place to enjoy their hobby at the moment.

The RC track at Lake Park in the Northdale area is currently closed in preparation for an overhaul. Safety concerns necessitated the razing of a building at the site, according to Hillsborough County spokeswoman Kemly Jimenez Green.

The county hopes to rebuild the building at the site at some point in the future.

Right now, however, “we do not have a timeline at this time of when it will be built,” Green wrote in an email. The (Parks, Recreation and Conservation) department is looking for funding to rebuild the building, and work will be done internally by the construction section of the Parks Department.”

The track is expected to re-open this Saturday (May 18) and will “close occasionally when construction begins,” Green added.
