Allegiant Air Cancels Local Flights Due To Plane Shortage

Allegiant Air has canceled at least 12 upcoming flights out of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

CLEARWATER, FL — Those planning to fly out of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport on Allegiant Air might want to double-check their reservations.

Allegiant Air has canceled at least 12 upcoming flights, including four flights on Thursday, out of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport due to a shortage of planes.

Allegiant Air said the cancellations are due to delay in the delivery of new Airbus 320s that the airline expected to add to its fleet.

"We are in the process of transitioning to an all-Airbus fleet," said Allegiant Air spokeswoman Krysta Levy. "Unfortunately, some of the delivery dates for aircraft scheduled to join our fleet have fallen short of the projections, leaving us with limited resources available and the very difficult choice to cancel certain flights."

She added that the airlines is working with passengers on alternatives.
