Allegiant To Fly Non-Stop From Clearwater To Key West
July marked the biggest month in the history of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

CLEARWATER, FL —Allegiant announced a new nonstop route to Key West from St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport starting Nov. 19.
“With its year-round sunshine, incredible beaches and attractions, Key West is one of the most sought-after destinations in the U.S. right now,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s senior vice president of revenue and network planning. “We expect it to be an even bigger draw for leisure travelers seeking an affordable, convenient vacation spot for warm winter getaways.”
The new nonstop route from PIE to Key West International Airport will operate twice weekly.

This is the latest of several new flights offered at PIE.
In June, Allegiant announced a new nonstop route from St. Petersburg to Wichita, Kansas, beginning Nov. 19.

The new nonstop route to Eisenhower National Airport from St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport will operate twice weekly.
Also in June, Swoop, Canada’s leading ultra-low-cost carrier, unveiled plans to add three new U.S. destinations to its network with non-stop flights to St. Pete-Clearwater, San Diego and Orlando-Sanford airports beginning this winter.
“Swoop is celebrating three years of bringing ultra-low fares to Canadians and we are thrilled to continue expanding on our success with the introduction of San Diego, Orlando-Sanford and St. Pete-Clearwater to our network,” said Bert van der Stege, head of commercial and finance for Swoop. “We are pleased to be providing our travelers looking to explore the U.S. this winter with even more choice and affordable options.”
The addition of the three new sun destinations to Swoop’s network comes as the airline celebrates its third anniversary.
Swoop’s service to St. Pete-Clearwater will begin on Nov. 5 from Toronto and on Nov. 9 from Hamilton.
“We are excited to welcome Canada-based Swoop to our family of airlines," said St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport Director Tom Jewsbury. “Canadians will have a convenient, non-stop option to fly to our award-winning destination from Toronto and Hamilton, Canada, and many will want to visit as the borders reopen. The new routes come as PIE announced its biggest month in the airport's history with July passengers increasing 90 percent over July 2020.
July 2021 also increased by 7 percent over pre-pandemic July 2019.
There were 131,752 enplanements and 130,929 deplanements last month.
PIE's 2021 year-to-date increase is 40 percent over 2020.
With the addition of these routes, PIE now offers 64 non-stop destinations.
