Bicyclist, 79, Dies Following Accident Earlier This Month

Charles Arthur Crone was struck by a car as he crossed a Clearwater intersection against the traffic light June 2, officials said.

An elderly bicyclist struck by a car earlier this month in Clearwater has died, officials said Friday.

Charles Arthur Crone died Thursday morning, a day after his 79th birthday.

Crone was struck as he crossed Sunset Point Road at Belcher Road against the traffic light June 2, according to public safety spokesperson Rob Shaw. He was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

"He had a helmet with him, but was not wearing it at the time of the crash," Shaw said in a media release.

No charges were filed against the driver, 79-year-old Iracema Vale Drysdale of Clearwater.
