Clearwater Kmart Store Closing In January

CLEARWATER, FL - A Kmart store in Clearwater will be among 45 Kmart and 28 Sears locations closing in January, Sears Holding Co. announced Thursday. Two other Kmart stores in Milton and Sebring also will be closing. Employees were informed of the closures Thursday.

Clearance sales are starting this week, the company announced. The Clearwater store is located at 26996 U.S. 19 N. The company has closed hundreds of Sears and Kmart locations in the past 12 months.

In its announcement, Sears Holdings said it would “continue to close some unprofitable stores as we transform our business model so that our physical store footprint and our digital capabilities match the needs and preferences of our members.

“It’s important to note that these stores will remain open to serve members during the holiday season. Eligible associates impacted by these store closures will receive severance and will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Kmart or Sears stores. Customers can use the store locator function on our websites to find the location of their nearest Kmart and Sears stores. Liquidation sales will begin as early as Nov. 9 at these closing stores," the company said.
