Suspect In 2 Clearwater Bank Robberies Arrested: U.S. DOJ

A man suspected of robbing two Clearwater banks at gunpoint has been arrested, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

CLEARWATER, FL — A Largo man was arrested in the armed robbery of two Clearwater banks in recent months, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

Shannon Luster of Largo was charged with bank robbery and faces up to 20 years in federal prison.
Luster robbed two banks in Clearwater at gunpoint — the first on Nov. 5, the second on Dec. 9.

Each time, Luster was disguised with a hat, sunglasses, and carried a laptop bag that concealed his gun, the DOJ said.

Luster entered the banks, pointed his guns at the bankers, and demanded he be taken to the tills where he stole thousands of dollars before fleeing.

An investigation by the FBI and the Clearwater police determined that Luster was the bank robber, the DOJ said.

Law enforcement found the firearm and laptop bag in a dumpster near Luster’s house. They also recovered the e-bike, clothing that appeared to be worn during the robberies, and some of the cash stolen during the robberies from Luster’s house, the agency said.
