Clearwater Police Seek Help In Cigarette Theft

Clearwater police are searching for two men who stole thousands of dollars of cigarettes early Thursday morning from a convenience store.

CLEARWATER, FL - Clearwater police are searching for two men who stole thousands of dollars of cigarettes early Thursday morning from a convenience store. The call came in from Speedway, 2185 Drew St., about 2:30 a.m, police said.

The two suspects worked together to distract the clerk before one went behind the counter to grab two boxes containing numerous cartons of cigarettes. They left the scene in a silver Infiniti. A similar crime occurred Jan. 18 at the RaceTrac convenience store at 2854 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd.

The suspects and vehicle from the RaceTrac theft match those from the Speedway incident. Anyone with information on the identity of the two suspects should call Clearwater police at 727-562-4242.
