Clearwater Wants To Know What Events Should Be Held At Renovated Coachman Park
The Sound at Coachman Park will be the largest concert venue in Pinellas County.

CLEARWATER, FL — The city of Clearwater is inviting residents to participate in a series of in-person meetings to learn more about newly renovated Coachman Park, share ideas for public art, and show residents how to organize events and rent park spaces.
Meetings already took place March 30, April 3 and April 5.
The final meeting is April 11, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Clearwater Beach Library & Recreation Center, 69 Bay Esplanade.

A grand opening for Coachman Park will take place in June.
Coachman Park’s renovations include 19 acres of park space, a grand entrance and walkway, public art spaces, a waterfront pedestrian promenade, a marina amenity building, a scenic lake overlook with rentable pavilions, a playground area, splash pad and a 9,000-capacity concert venue.

Meanwhile, Clearwater’s long-awaited new concert venue at Coachman Park has a name.
Susan M. Crockett, Ruth Eckerd Hall president and CEO announced the new concert venue to be operated by Ruth Eckerd Hall at Coachman Park in downtown Clearwater in partnership with the city of Clearwater has been named The Sound.
"It is truly exciting to be able to share the name which has been under wraps these past weeks. This will be an iconic venue offering a one-of-a-kind experience in Tampa Bay," Crockett said. "The Sound will host great entertainment in front of Clearwater's breathtaking sunset and is sure to be an artist favorite."
"We wanted something special capturing not only the venue's purpose and gorgeous coastal location, but the unforgettable sensory experiences it will provide for concert goers," Megan Brennan, vice president and chief marketing officer at Ruth Eckerd Hall, said.
With 4,000 covered seats and an additional 5,000 on the lawn, The Sound — part of the city of Clearwater’s $84 million waterfront project, Imagine Clearwater — will be the largest concert venue in Pinellas County.

Bobby Rossi, head of programming for Ruth Eckerd Hall, is in charge of booking the new venue.
“We have already announced several concerts playing the inaugural season with plans to announce many more in the coming months,” he said in a statement.
“The grand opening of The Sound this summer will be another landmark milestone for the city of Clearwater and Ruth Eckerd Hall, partners for over 40 years.”
The Sound will debut July 7 with the “Sad Summer Festival,” featuring The Maine and Pivris.

- July 21: Reggae’s Michael Franti and Spearhead
- July 24: Goo Goo Dolls and O.A.R.
- Sept. 9: Billy Currington with Jessie James Decker
- Sept. 16: Kenny Loggins' Farewell Tour
- Oct. 7: Hooters' 40ty anniversary special benefit concert featuring Chicago
Tickets for these concerts are on sale here.
The city will receive $5 per ticket sold.
