Early Learning Coalition To Offer In-Person Free VPK Registration

The nonprofit is giving families in Pinellas County more options with walk-in voluntary prekindergarten registration.

CLEARWATER, FL — In an effort to provide more access to parents, the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas Countywill host in-person, walk-in Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) registration events throughout Pinellas County on Jan. 20 and Jan. 25 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The registration event will allow parents to register their children to participate in Florida’s free VPK current or upcoming program year.

“We are proud to help families find the tools to support their child’s development because we understand how important Florida’s free VPK is for preparing children for the future and beyond,” said Lindsay Carson, chief executive officer of ELC Pinellas.

VPK is a free program for 4-year-olds whose families live in Florida. The program helps build a strong foundation for school using educational materials appropriate for different stages in the child’s development and preparing them for kindergarten and beyond. Families can decide where their child learns with hundreds of public, private and faith-based schools and centers in Pinellas County.

Families interested in participating in the in-person VPK registration event must have the following items:

  • email address
  • proof of Florida residency such as a Florida driver’s license, utility bill or current signed lease
  • proof of the child’s age including a birth certificate, passport or current immunization record.

Registration will take place in Lealman, 3815 43rd St. N, Building 8, St. Petersburg, on Jan. 20 and 25 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
