Flu Outbreak Closes Calvary Christian High School On Friday
Students, teachers and staff have the day off while the school is cleaned.

CLEARWATER, FL - Calvary Christian High School in Clearwater was closed Friday due to a flu outbreak.
Students, teachers and staff have the day off while the school is cleaned. A company has been hired to disinfect the classrooms and offices.
"We decided to close school based on the number of absences on Thursday. We have 525 students enrolled. On Thursday, the number reached 86 students absent," a school spokesman said. He said the school officials did not confirm that all had the flu, but "most were sick."

A sign on the front door of the school says it will reopen on Monday, Jan. 29.
Pinellas County has reported more than five flu outbreaks this winter, according to the Florida Department of Health. As of the week ending Jan. 20, 159 outbreaks of the flu have been reported since the start of the 2017-18 season, state health officials said.
