Forecasters Monitor Low-Pressure Zone Tracking Toward Florida

The National Weather Service is keeping an eye on a low-pressure zone near the Yucatan Peninsula that has the potential to bring heavy rain, flooding, gusty winds and tornadoes to Florida later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service, "this system has the potential to bring multiple hazards to the region this week."

The National Weather Service also issued a hazardous weather outlook for Monday in the Tampa Bay region, including Manatee and Sarasota counties.

Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Monday and Monday night, with the chance of cloud-to-ground lightning and some minor flooding. Afternoon thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout the week.

The forecast for rain and thunder extends from Sarasota County to Tarpon Springs.
