Frontline Workers To Get Reduced Entry On Fridays To Sugar Sand Fest

CLEARWATER, FL — The 2023 Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival will host "Frontline Fridays," on each Friday of the festival — April 7, 14 and 21.

Thanks to the Beachside Hospitality Group, all police, fire, military, teachers and health care workers will receive a discounted general admission ticket to the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival's signature Sand Walk Exhibit for $10 with proper identification. The offer is valid on each Friday of the festival.

After a successful post-pandemic return in 2022 that drew more than 200,000 visitors, the ninth annual Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival, will stretch to 17 days, April 7 to 23.

During the festival, 14 world-class artists will craft elaborate sand sculptures from more than 1,000 tons of Clearwater’s internationally famous sugar sand. The works of art will be on display in a 21,000-square-foot structure.

The festival also features daily entertainment and concerts.

General admission and VIP tickets are on sale now for the 2023 festival featuring the theme “A Blast from the Past: A Nostalgic Time Travel Back to the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s.”

General admission tickets to the Sugar Sand Walk Exhibit cost $14 per person. Children ages 3 years old and younger are admitted for free.

Access to the Baystar VIP Lounge tickets costs $70 and includes:

  • Fast lane entrance and ticket admission to the Sugar Sand Walk sculpture exhibit.
  • A complimentary souvenir photo.
  • Admission to the Baystar VIP Lounge.
  • Three beer, wine or seltzer beverages.
  • Two soda or bottled water beverages.
  • A festival-themed T-shirt.
  • Access to air-conditioned VIP rooms.
  • An enhanced dinner menu available from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Visit St. Pete-Clearwater is now seeking energetic volunteers to assist with the return of the ninth annual event on Clearwater Beach April 7 to 23.

Volunteer opportunities range from merchandise sales to greeting guests.

Volunteers will receive:

  • Complimentary Sand Ambassador T-shirt
  • Complimentary meal (valid only after completion of shift)
  • Complimentary transportation from downtown Clearwater
  • Access to the Sugar Sand Walk Exhibit on the day of the volunteer's shift
  • One complimentary general admission ticket for a return visit

Volunteers information:

  • Wear comfortable clothes, hat, sunglasses and shoes. Casual beach attire/shorts are recommended. (Sorry, no bathing suits.)
  • Must be able to walk in the sand and tolerate the Florida heat.
  • Sunscreen will be provided upon request.
  • High school students ages 15 and older are welcome. Any volunteer younger than 18 years of age must have parental permission. Bring all Bright Futures and volunteer service forms to your volunteer shift. Volunteer forms will be signed upon completion of your shift.
