Pinellas Hits 19.5 Percent Positivity; New COVID-19 Testing Site Opens

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — As the number of positive COVID-19 cases rises, a new no-appointment testing site is now open in Pinellas County to meet the additional demand.
As of Dec. 30, Pinellas County had a 19.5 percent positivity rate and 6,615 new cases of coronavirus between Dec. 24 and 30.
As of Dec. 31, the statewide positivity rate was 26.5 percent with 298,455 new cases from Dec. 24 to 30, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The new COVID-19 testing site is located at 7150 114th Ave. in Largo. Testing is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
This new site joins the one currently operating at the Center for Health Equity in St. Petersburg, which offers testing from Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Both rapid and PCR tests for COVID-19 are offered at no cost at these locations. Proof of medical insurance is recommended and should be presented at the time of the test. Those without medical insurance will still be tested at no cost.
The test sites are operated and managed by CDR Maguire, not the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County (DOH-Pinellas). For information about the CDR Maguire test sites, call 850-583-2419.
CVS, Walgreens and urgent care clinics also provide testing in Pinellas. They are listed on the Pinellas County website.
DOH-Pinellas continues to encourage everyone who has not received a COVID-19 vaccination to get protected as soon as possible, and for those who are eligible to receive their booster dose. Vaccinations remain the most effective defense against COVID-19.
