Pinellas County Tax Collector Makes A Splash With Donate Life Florida

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — This April, also known as "National Donate Life Month," Pinellas County tax collector employees are raising awareness and funds for a very important cause — lifesaving organ donation — by partnering with Donate Life Florida.

To help increase awareness and encourage residents to join the cause throughout the month, tax collector employees will wear fun Donate Life "Make a Splash" T-shirts on designated days, collect donations for the cause, and highlight the Donate Life specialty license plate, currently available as a presale voucher. The hope is that in making a splash, more customers will register as organ donors throughout April.

"Our organization has partnered with Donate Life for many years now and we take a lot of pride in being able to assist with their crucial, lifesaving cause," said Pinellas County Tax Collector Charles W. Thomas. "We know organ donation can enhance and even save many lives, and we are happy to support this cause again this year."

According to Donate Life, approximately 115,000 men, women, and children are waiting for lifesaving organ transplants. For 2021, 70 percent of Florida counties had donor registration rates of 50 percent or higher (including Pinellas), and 96 percent of all registrations for 2021 came from driver license transactions.
