Pinellas Volunteers Recognized With Milestone Award

Eight Pinellas County volunteers were honored with the Presidential Lifetime Achievement volunteer service award.

CLEARWATER, FL – Eight people who have volunteered what amounts to more than 500 work days were honored by Pinellas County and a former president of the United States.

During its Tuesday, Aug. 15 meeting, the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners presented Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards to eight volunteers who each have contributed more than 4,000 hours of service.

The eight volunteers honored during the meeting were:

  • Mary Chernesky – More than 10 years of volunteer service at Heritage Village and the Florida Botanical Gardens as a Master Gardener
  • Rogers Davidson – Seven years of volunteer service at the Florida Botanical Gardens
  • Elizabeth Olson – Five years with Pinellas County Animal Services as a pet foster, adoption counselor and fundraiser
  • Clayton Parrott – More than seven years as an amateur Ham Radio operator with Pinellas County Emergency Management
  • Jack Satterfield – More than nine years as a Ham Radio operator with Pinellas County Emergency Management
  • Timothy Talbert – More than seven years as a Ham Radio operator with Pinellas County Emergency Management
  • Holly Vernon – More than six years of fostering cats and kittens for Pinellas County Animal Services
  • Bob Young – More than 16 years as a docent and skill demonstrator at Heritage Village

Lifetime Achievement Awards are awarded as part of the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards. Commission Chair Janet C. Long presented the eight honorees with a certificate from former President Barack Obama.
