Redington Beaches, Indian Shores Holiday Boat Parade Canceled

REDINGTON BEACHES, FL — The Redington Beaches/Indian Shores Christmas Boat Parade Committee has canceled the 2023 Holiday Boat Parade — which was set for Sunday, Dec. 10 — because of bad weather conditions in the forecast.

There is no makeup date for the parade.

"The consensus weather forecast for Sunday evening predicts potential severe thunderstorms and strong, gusty winds (southerly @ 10-20 miles per hour)," organizers said Friday. "The parade’s organizing committee, in consult with many of the participating boat owners, made this decision based on safety concerns for the boats and their crews. The committee wants to thank all the participating boat owners, their crews and the many residents of the participating towns for their enthusiasm and community spirit in supporting this event."

The parade is sponsored, jointly, by the towns of Redington Beach, North Redington Beach, Redington Shores and Indian Shores. Each town provides initial financial support that is supplemented by private cash donations and, usually, prize merchandise donations from local businesses.

Major prizes, consisting of gift certificates and cash, are given to the top three boats in each category. The three judging categories are based on the lengths of the participating boats.
