Teen Injured in Kitchen Fire

Clearwater Fire and Rescue were called to the scene of a kitchen fire on Woodlawn Street Thursday afternoon.

A Clearwater teen is recovering from smoke inhalation after a stove caught some kitchen cabinets on fire Thursday evening.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue crews were called to a fire at 1119 Woodlawn St, apartment B, around 5:27 p.m.

After cooking, residents thought the stove was turned off, but it wasn't, Rob Shaw, Clearwater Fire and Rescue spokesman said in a release.

"The fire broke out atop the stove and spread to nearby kitchen cabinets," Shaw said.

An 18-year-old male was taken to Morton Plant Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, Shaw said. There were no other injuries.
