Woman Fatally Ejected From Truck Near Skyway Bridge After Driver Fell Asleep: Police
The driver fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle, police said, which crashed, killing the 27-year-old.
PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — A 27-year-old Clearwater woman died after she was ejected from a pickup truck when the driver fell asleep and crashed near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, police said.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday, when a Chevrolet Colorado driven by a 21-year-old man from Pinellas Park was traveling south on Interstate 275 near the bridge, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle north of the Pinellas Rest Area, and the truck left the road and hit a tree as well as a guardrail, ejecting the woman, who was taken to an area hospital and died, police said.

The driver and two other passengers were not hurt, according to police.
