11 Florida Hospitals Earn 5-Star Ratings From Medicare
Eleven Florida hospitals are among 483 nationwide to receive Medicare's top 5-star rating, based on their performance in five categories.
FLORIDA — Eleven Florida hospitals were given a 5-star rating, the best possible, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid said recently.
They are among 483 hospitals nationwide to receive the coveted CMS 5-star rating based on their performance across five categories measuring quality of care.
The agency’s Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2023 include 54 more 5-star hospitals than last year.

These Florida hospitals received the top rating:
- Lee Memorial Hospital (Fort Myers)
- Mease Dunedin Hospital (Dunedin)
- AdventHealth Daytona Beach (Daytona Beach)
- Sarasota Memorial Hospital
- Baptist Medical Center - Nassau (Fernandina Beach)
- Mayo Clinic Florida (Jacksonville)
- Cape Canaveral Hospital (Cocoa Beach)
- Morton Plant Mease Healthcare Countryside (Safety Harbor)
- Gulf Breeze Hospital
- Viera Hospital (Melbourne)
- AdventHealth Wesley Chapel
The Medicare star rating system takes into account information from hospitals based on 46 hospital quality measures. These are divided into five quality categories: safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates and timely and effective care.
