3) The Humane Society of Pinellas reports that if you enter your pet in the Humane Society of Pinellas’ Calendar Contest ($10 entry fee), you can get free admission for you and your dog to Yappy Hour at Bright House Field on July 11. Yappy Hour at Bright House features a pet toy drive, costume contest and prizes. It starts at 5 p.m.; game starts at 7 p.m. Proceeds from both the Yappy Hour and the game support the Humane Society of Pinellas.

5) This is a busy week for Dunedin commissioners. They are beginning to delve into next year's budget and they're slated for a commission meeting on Thursday. Here's what they're up to this week:

  • Two budget review workshops are scheduled, one for Monday and one Wednesday (both 9 a.m. to noon)
  • City commission meeting, in which they'll be discussing dredging at Sperry Lake and Cedar Creek, and also a potential 24-townhome development on Dunedin Causeway.
