Here are the top three stories today in Dunedin:

1. Dunedin Parks & Recreation has created a new program called Adaptive Art for kids eight years and older at the MLK Jr. Recreation Center. Participants will work on art projects which encourage creativity, social skills and communication, as well as build confidence and self-esteem. Kids will use pencils, crayons, colored pencils, glue, markers and tempura paint to create works of art. The program will be held on Wednesdays between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Two sessions are planned for the fall with the first one between October 5 and October 26 and the second session between November 2 and November 30. 2. YMCA Health Steps for Older Adults is a free weekly program at the Hale Senior Activity Center. This community-based fall risk screening and education program will address proper footwear, safety at home, good nutrition for bone health and the importance of exercise to prevent falls. The program also includes information on local fitness programs and at-home exercises designed to reduce the risk of falling. The program will take place over two sessions on Mondays between 9:30 a.m. and noon. Session one is from October 3 to October 10. Session two is from December 5 to December 19. 3. Tiny Tot Basketball will be held on Tuesdays between 9:30 and 10:15 a.m. for kids ages three and four at the MLK Jr. Recreation Center. Kids will learn the basic skills of the game on an indoor hardwood basketball court. Your child will develop fundamental motor and social skills along with a focus on good sportsmanship in a non-competitive environment where everyone's a champion! The first session will be held between September 6 and September 27, while the second session is scheduled for October 4 through October 25. Those interested can register online or in person. This memorial is located on the grounds of Fire Station 61 at 903 Michigan Blvd. It features a piece of steel from the World Trade Center and is set in place to honor the fallen firefighters lost but not forgotten on September 11, 2001." • The Scottish American Society of Dunedin is hosting a Halfway to St. Patrick's Day event on September 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for a whisky tasting, beer or wine and for those not drinking.
