Rotary Club Awards Grant to Help Children In Need of Prosthesis

The Rotary Club of DunedinΒ has recognized the Inner Wheel USA Foundation with a grant of $2,000 for the past six or more years.

Grant money helps upper limb-deficient children to be fitted with a myoelectric prosthesis. Children loosing a limb by birth or accident, who are in need of assistance because of no insurance, are helped by the Foundation.

In the past 18 years, Inner Wheel has continually helped 80-plus children from the ages of 6 months to 18 years with the myo as well replacement parts such as sensors, gloves, etc.Β

Professor Joe Shamp from the St. Pete College andΒ Janet Bullard, chief of prosthetics from the James A. Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa spoke at the event, andΒ Roger Thomas, an amputee from Dade City, demonstrated the use of a myoelectric and the newest I-Limb.Β Β Β
