Update: Accused Dunedin Bank Robber Found at Discount Food Store

Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives investigating an early morning robbery at Dunedin bank believe they found the St. Petersburg woman responsible while she was shopping inside a discount food store.

A St. Petersburg woman accused of robbing a Dunedin bank early Thursday was arrested while shopping at a discount food store, authorities report.

Renita Mount Rayner, 52, reportedly walked into the BB&T bank, 1478 Main St. in Dunedin, about 9:45 a.m. on Sept. 5 and approached an employee with a threatening note, Pinellas County Sheriffs detectives say.

The note demanded money, implied that she had a gun, and further stated that no one would get hurt if she was given what she wanted, detectives report.

The employee surrendered an undisclosed amount of cash to the woman and she fled, detectives report. No injuries are reported as a result of the robbery.

The sheriff's office says that residents nearby also found evidence that the woman had thrown away and it helped detectives identify Rayner as the suspect.

Undercover detectives from the St. Petersburg Police Department assisted the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office in finding Rayner while she shopped at Save-A-Lot, 701 9th St. N, St. Petersburg.

Rayner is charged with one count of felony unarmed bank robbery. She is in custody at Pinellas County Jail.
