Here are the top three stories in Dunedin today:

  1. Birding backpacks are coming to the Dunedin Public Library! These backpacks will contain everything you would need to go bird watching. The idea was inspired by the Palm Beach County library system and Library Director Phyllis Gorshe who explained that starting this summer, you can check out a backpack that has binoculars and everything needed for birding and bird watching. Read the full article to learn more about how Gorshe is helping the library get back on track after the pandemic. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
  2. Toronto Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo isn't shedding any tears for unvaccinated opposing players that can't enter Canada. "Rules are rules," he said. "That's why we couldn't play in Toronto for two years ... Nobody cared about us when we were in Dunedin." Canada's current border regulations require anyone entering the country to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and professional athletes aren't exempt from this policy. Players who are unable to play in Toronto can be placed on the restricted list. The Oakland Athletics placed three players on the list over the weekend and the Boston Red Sox will have to do the same for multiple unvaccinated players next week. (The Score)
  3. Grab your blanket or lawn chairs and get ready for the City of Dunedin's free Sunset Music Series at Weaver Park next month. The schedule includes reggae fusion band Undercover Rasta on May 6, the classic rock band More is More on May 13, the 90s alternative band Fuse Box on May 20 and the blues group the Wendy Barmore Band on May 27. All performances begin at 7:00 PM. Concessions will be available for food and drinks. (Dunedin Gov)
