- City of Dunedin officials are calling for action from the Florida Department of Transportation and Forward Pinellas after a 79-year-old pedestrian was killed in an accident on Jan. 7 at the crosswalk on Edgewater Drive near the downtown marina. Mayor Julie Bujalski said at the commission's Jan. 12 meeting they plan on installing a flashing rapid beacon light to go with a pedestrian crossing within the next few weeks. They also talked about improving the lighting in the area, as it can get dark at the intersection and limit visibility. Residents can also expect to see added law enforcement efforts in the area moving forward. Officials are also talking about reconfiguring the intersection to make it safer for both drivers and pedestrians. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
