Here are the top three stories today in Dunedin:

  1. A free Hub Workshop titled "How to Survive a Recession" will be held today between 5:30 and 7 p.m. The workshop will be led by Michael Gaenzler, a consultant for executives and business owners. Attendees will learn how to work on a balanced approach between navigating the bottom line and initiatives geared towards sales and marketing. Additionally, using special simulation software, the workshop will show the impact of individualized strategies. Those interested can register now online. (Dunedin Chamber of Commerce)
  2. Data collected around Pinellas County shows that E-bikes aren't a problem on the Pinellas Trail. Forward Pinellas recently conducted a speed study on the trail that used a combination of counters and 10 hours of field observation with radar at various locations including Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Bay Pines and St. Petersburg. Results showed that the frequency of E-bikes traveling at 20 mph is very low on the trail and amounted to less than 1% of all bicyclists and 5-10% of speeding bicyclists. In total, only 0.5% of bicyclists in Dunedin were speeding. “It’s more of a perception issue,” Commissioner Dave Eggers said, with Dunedin reporting the most conflicts. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
  3. Week three of "Get Dunedin Healthy" kicks off on August 26 offering exercise solutions for those suffering from low back pain. Patty Durell of Rock Solid Fitness will help you learn the basics and provide small achievable goals specific to you. Register online now for the kickoff event on August 26 between noon and 1 p.m. in The Dunedin Chamber of Commerce Boardroom. The $10 fee includes a drink, salad and sandwich for lunch.
