Here are the top stories in Dunedin today:
- The City of Dunedin has announced that the new City Hall building is expected to be completed in late December or early January. After the New Year, 90 city employees will transition into the space and work out of the new building. Right now, work is being done to install interior finishing, such as flooring, light fixtures, doors, and restroom fixtures. A 26-foot public art piece titled “The See,” designed by world-renowned artist Heath Satow will be installed on Dec. 12 and Dec 13. An art dedication ceremony is planned for Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new City Hall building will likely be scheduled at the end of January. - Dunedin Parks & Rec has scheduled a Santa’s Workshop - Parents Night Out for kids ages 7 to 12 on Dec. 16 between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. at the MLK Jr. Rec Center. The children will enjoy holiday-themed games and activities, create a secret craft project to gift to someone special, and decorate festive holiday cookies! The cost is $20 per child. Those interested can register online or in person at the Dunedin Community Center and the MLK Jr. Recreation Center. (Dunedin Gov)
- If you plan to attend The Old Fashioned Christmas & Holiday Parade on Saturday, Dec. 10, avoid parking issues with one of the city's free transportation options. Park in either the Dunedin Mease parking lot or at Curtis Fundamental and ride the Jolley Trolley for free to an area next to The Living Room. You can also catch a ride on the Tiki Bus for a small donation. Keep in mind they will only be operating between 12 and 3 p.m. as they will be a participant in the parade at 4 p.m. If you plan to go downtown early, you can check out the map at the link for parking options.
