Here are the top three stories today in Dunedin:

  1. Dunedin Parks & Recreation will host two Create & Take events for kids ages seven to 12 looking to express their creative side. The first of these events will be held on July 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the MLK Jr. Recreation Center. At this event, the kids will be creating Painted Button Trees! The second Create & Take event will be held on August 9 where they will learn funnel pour painting techniques. No artistic experience is needed! Register online now for $9 per child. (Dunedin Patch)

  2. In celebration of Independence Day, all City of Dunedin facilities will be closed on July 4. Slight changes have been made to the residential solid waste and recycling pickup schedule. Monday collections will take place on Tuesday and Tuesday collections will take place on Wednesday. There are no changes to the collection schedule for the rest of the week. (Dunedin Patch)

  3. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will add a new missing person alert category starting July 1. Purple Alerts are designed to assist in the recovery of a person with an intellectual or developmental disability whose disappearance poses a threat of immediate danger or serious bodily injury. Like silver alerts, you may start seeing them on Dynamic Message Signs around Pinellas County in an effort to engage the public in the search for the missing person.
