Deputies: Dunedin Couple Found Dead in Hernando County

The incident may have been a murder-suicide and the 66-year-old wife may have been bound before she left her Dunedin home, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

The bodies of a Dunedin couple were found in a Hernando County forest in what authorities say may have been a murder-suicide and a case of false imprisonment.

Deputies responded to the home of Michael and Glenna Jones, both 66, at 1817 Dinnerbell Lane, around 12:15 a.m. Sunday after the couple's son received a "disturbing call" from them, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reports. The couple wasn't home and their vehicle, a tan PT cruiser, was also missing.

Further investigation led them to believe the couple may be in the area of the Chassahowitzka Forest in Hernando County. Deputies there found the car in a wooded area of the forest and the bodies outside it, officials said.

"Deputies say that due to evidence found inside the couple's home,  Glenna Jones, may have been bound prior leaving the residence, hence the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office investigation into a possible false imprisonment," a spokesperson said in a media release.

The investigation is ongoing.
