Here are the top three stories today in Dunedin:

  1. A "Kids Night Out" event offering parents an evening without the kids is scheduled for Friday, July 8 between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. at the MLK, Jr. Recreation Center. The "Sports Fanatic" themed night is designed for kids between seven and 12 years old. City staff will keep your child active and entertained while you take a well-deserved break. The night will include sports-themed activities, games and a concession stand snack buffet. An early bird special of $15 per child is available through July 6. (Dunedin Patch)
  2. A Dunedin Highland Middle School documentary project was selected as a top-ten finalist in the National History Day competition. The documentary team from DHMS was made up of students William Kent, Naveen Yengera and Owen Toal. They were able to progress to the national competition after earning second place in the Junior Group Documentary category at the Florida History Day competition. Students created projects related to the theme Debate & Diplomacy; Successes, Failures, Consequences. (PCSB)
  3. Check out a photo of one of the new shade structures at Dunedin's Stirling Park Driving Range! The City of Dunedin Parks & Recreation Department now offers 16 shade canopied bays so you can hit a few balls in the shade rather than in the brutal Florida sun. Lessons with PGA Professional Paul Sylvester will also be held under the new canopies, ensuring the comfort of newbies and those looking to perfect their golf game. Learn more on how to register for lessons and the cost of using the driving range at the link. (Dunedin Gov | City of Dunedin via Facebook)
