Here are the top 3 stories today in Dunedin:
- Local artist Caitlin Albritton is scheduled to host "Rock On: Making Wearable Inlays with Caitlin Albritton" on March 8 at noon. As part of the Dunedin Fine Art Center's Coffee and Conversation series, Albritton will talk about transforming her figurative oil paintings into wearable, miniature pendants made with silver and colorful stones. As a painter-turned-silversmith, she uses the technique of inlay to make her jewelry. Her signature pieces are abstract female figures that explore the nuances of nonverbal communication through body language. Read the full article to learn more about Albritton's work and register for this unique virtual event. (Dunedin Patch | Register Here)
- Did you know that within the Dunedin Library is a Seed Library that allows you to check out seeds just like a book? Obviously, you don't return them. The Seed Library works with The Community Garden to encourage residents to try their hand at gardening. "Our seeds are donated to us from different seed companies and different organizations," explained library director Phyllis Gorsche. "So we'll put out what is the best thing to plant during our central Florida gardening seasons." While there's a waiting list to get a spot to plant in The Community Garden, residents with their own garden at home are encouraged to utilize the seeds and resources available at the library. - Are your green shirts and shamrock socks ready for St. Patrick's Day? If you're already making a game plan for the Irish holiday, check out this list of local pubs known for going above and beyond this time of the year. Of course, Flanagan's in downtown Dunedin is at the top of all of our lists, but if you're looking to celebrate throughout the month of March, this article has a few other suggestions. (MOR)
