Here are the top three stories today in Dunedin:
- Registration is now open for the summer and fall sessions at the Dunedin Fine Art Center for children, teens and adults. With over 100 classes available, you can choose from traditional art classes, such as drawing, painting, and pottery, or try your hand at digital imaging, jewelry making, metal-working, and more. Classes are available during the day and in the evening. Check out the full schedule of classes for more information on the Dunedin Fine Art Center's website. (Dunedin Patch | DFAC)
- A workshop on financial planning for small business owners will be held TODAY at The Hub at 5:30 p.m. Attendees will learn practical tips on how to manage your finances, create a budget and plan for the future. The workshop will provide tools that are useful to those just starting out or who have been in business for years. Register on The Hub website to attend. (Dunedin Hub | Dunedin Chamber of Commerce via Facebook)
- The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners passed a series of updates to its animal ordinance on Tuesday that will ban the opening of new retail stores that sell dogs or cats. Under the new ordinance, existing stores cannot expand their floor space for pet sales and may only relocate if they meet multiple requirements, including reducing the number of kennels on their sales floor. They must also submit a point-of-sale certificate to Pinellas County Animal Services for each pet sold. While Dunedin already has a full ban on the sale of commercially bred dogs and cats, the county-wide transition will help encourage the humane treatment of animals and improve consumer protections.
