Dunedin Commission Reviews Plans For New Emergency Center
The Dunedin City Commission got their first look at what the city's Emergency Operations Center will look like when it's completed.

DUNEDIN, FL — In the planning for more than five years, members of the Dunedin City Commission got their first look at what the city's Emergency Operations Center will look like when it's completed.
The center will be constructed at 2835 Belcher Road next to Fire State 62.
To help design the center, Dunedin department heads toured several emergency operations centers throughout the county. The new single-story 5,620-square-foot building will be constructed to withstand Category 5 hurricane wind speeds and be self-sufficient with water, power and sanitation for up to seven days.

When it's not functioning as an Emergency Operations Center, the building will be used for fire training and emergency medical training and will be available for other city departments to hold training and meetings in the facility's two classrooms. It will also house the fire division chief of training for the city.
Bids for the project opened on Sept. 16 and Bandes Construction Co. was awarded the contract to build the EOC as the lowest bidder at $3,284,550.
