Here are the top stories in Dunedin today:

  1. Last weekend's Art Harvest festival in Dunedin raised $30K to help fight chronic hunger in Tampa Bay communities. Hosted by the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin, the festival had 118 artists and over 30,000 attendees. Mediums included photography, painting, ceramics, and more. Art Harvest allows artists to show off their work and sell their art, all while helping locals who are struggling at the moment. (Bay News9)
  2. A proposed boutique hotel in Dunedin would have direct access to Pinellas Trail. The plan is to build on properties at 380 Main Street and 830 Douglas Avenue, which border Main Street, Douglas Avenue, Monroe Street, and the Pinellas Trail. The land is currently occupied by a three-story manufacturing firm, Ocean Optics. This building would be torn down to build the hotel which would also include shops, a spa, rooftop pool, and underground parking. (St Pete Catalyst)
  3. The City of Dunedin Florida has finally reopened Pioneer Park after weeks of construction. They were joined by the City Commission and community members during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, opening the park just in time for the Wine the Blues Festival this weekend. Photos of the event show the park's updates and improvements. (Facebook)
  4. At a Pinellas County School Board meeting, board members made plans to request approval to apply for the American Recovery Plan Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief Fund for federal Coronavirus response. If approved, the Pinellas County school district would receive $191,395,285. Funds would be used for "opening schools safely, sustaining safe operations, and addressing students' social, emotional, and academic needs as a result of the pandemic." The money would also help to address learning loss by providing students with more access to tutors, summer programs, professional development, and mental health support. (ABC Action News)
