Here are the top stories in Dunedin today:

  1. Dunedin city commissioners and officials are looking into purchasing the 27-acre Coca-Cola property located off of San Christopher Drive. Doing so would give the city control over how the property is used and prevent developers from coming in and building homes or apartment buildings. Officials want to maintain Dunedin's small-town charm and keep it from becoming overwhelmed with too many residents. Coca-Cola's relocation won't be finalized until the end of next summer, giving the city time to come up with a plan. (TBN Weekly)
  2. No surprise here! Dunedin has been ranked in the top three destinations for snowbirds in the United States, landing right behind Naples and Venice. Several factors were considered during the ranking process including temperature, housing availability and affordability, distance to beaches, number of golf courses, and proximity to healthcare facilities. Florida continues to be the most popular travel destination for snowbirds. (Storage Cafe)
  3. The Dunedin Golf Club is looking into making major restorations after receiving a $15,000 grant in 2021 from the Donald Ross Foundation. They used the grant money to fund a restoration master plan developed by a restoration architect whose vision could turn the Dunedin Golf Club into one of the top courses in the country. President of the Dunedin Men’s Golf Association and chairman of the club’s grounds committee, Kevin Janiga, is asking for city officials to invest in the restoration project which is estimated to cost $3.8 million. He hopes the plan can be put into action in time for the club's 100th anniversary in 2027. (TBN Weekly)
  4. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the City of Dunedin interviewed survivor and local resident Nina Johnston. She and her family have been living in Dunedin for six years, during which she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After receiving her diagnosis in 2020, Johnston learned life was short and is opening a new cafe downtown later this month. Mangos and Marley is a coastal cafe that pays homage to her hometown in Key West and will serve salads, bowls, and sandwiches. (City of Dunedin TV)
