MLK Rec Center Plans Party for 'Go Skateboarding Day'

In honor of national Go Skateboarding Day, Stirling Skate Park is open June 21 from 2 to 11 p.m., with raffles, games, concessions and a $2 entry fee.

Sure most skateboarders would say every day is Go Skateboarding Day.

But, really, the international day for everyone and anyone to grab a deck and speed down the street is Thursday.

The International Association of Skateboard Companies started the event in 2003 in Southern California as low-key skate sessions and barbecue. In less than a decade it blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon.
