"Gail’s presentation will include a talk about exploration and discovery in working with clay, a demonstration of hand building techniques and an exhibit and slide show of her work. Gail Wynne was born in New York City and spent her teenage years living in India. She received her BFA in painting from Syracuse University and her MS in Art Education from University of Michigan and Southern Connecticut State University. Gail taught art in the Syracuse New York public school system, Ootacamund South India and the Taft School in Connecticut, where she was head of the arts department and taught batik, printmaking, drawing, design and pottery for 33 years. She now teaches ceramic art at the Dunedin Fine Art Center and spends the summers working in her studio on Cape Cod. Gail’s hand built clay forms incorporate surface texture and imagery inspired by nature and the block printed fabrics of India. Her sculptural compositions invite the viewer to touch and some are designed to make musical sounds. Gail’s clay works have been exhibited at universities, galleries and art centers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, Florida and Rhode Island. She is represented by Studio Hop gallery in Providence, RI."
