Here are the top 3 stories in Dunedin today:
- Fall family fun is coming to Dunedin with a ton of exciting Halloween events. Downtown trick-or-treating will take place on Oct. 28 starting at 5 p.m. Those interested in participating in the Halloween Costume Parade can line up at 5:45 p.m. at the Dunedin History Museum. The parade will begin at 6:15 p.m. and head down Main Street. Additionally, Dunedin’s annual Halloween Happenings event is scheduled for Oct. 29 between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. in Highlander Park. The event will include carnival-like games, activities, a costume contest, bounce houses, a DJ, food vendors, and lots of candy! (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
- The City of Dunedin assures residents that no personal information was compromised due to the recent cybersecurity incident. All utility bills are paid through a third-party platform that was not impacted. Any data submitted through the city's website is not stored in Dunedin's cyber network and has not been compromised. Authorities and cybersecurity professionals continue to perform a thorough investigation and will keep residents up to date on their findings. (Dunedin Patch)
- Dunedin Commissioners will dedicate $610,000 to a 63-unit affordable housing project called the Flats on Main Street that will be built on the east end of town. The project got the go-ahead during a meeting on Sept. 13 and will be built with funds from the American Rescue Plan Act. Before the project can move forward, developers are required to apply for tax credits and loan funding through the Florida Housing Finance Corp. The application for tax credits in the county is competitive. A decision will be made in the Spring of 2023. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
