Here are the top three stories today in Dunedin:

  1. Expect nightly lane closures on the Dunedin Causeway between June 5 and June 23 while the road is repaved. It may be extended if the weather doesn't allow them to get the job done on time. The work will be performed Sundays through Thursdays between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m. to avoid traffic increases during peak times. Expect roadwork and delays from U.S. 19 to the turnaround before Honeymoon Island State Park. (Dunedin Patch)
  2. A new exhibit coming to the Dunedin Fine Art Center invites guests to touch the art! Okay, maybe they don't want you to actually touch anything, but the upcoming exhibit titled "See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me" will be on display through July 1. The exhibit will offer a multimedia experience and includes sculptures, mixed media works, colored pencils and more. Some of the artwork included in the exhibit will only be shown in the art center for a short period, so be sure to read the full article if you're looking for a specific artist. (Dunedin Patch)
  3. For the month of June, Dunedin Cares is holding a feminine care product drive. According to its website, "these necessary products are not covered by SNAP or any other welfare program. Each month, this leaves countless people without the products many of us take for granted." The “Girl Power” feminine care product drive is accepting donations of maxi pads, mini pads, panty liners and tampons at the pantry during drop-off hours. You can also make a monetary donation to Dunedin Cares online or in person. (Dunedin Cares | Drop-Off Hours)

From my notebook:

  • Is your pet in need of an exam or vaccines? Pinellas County Animal Services will be onsite at the free Hurricane Preparedness Day event on June 4 at 10 a.m. in the Lealman Exchange Center offering free pet services. These include rabies vaccines and wellness exams. It is also offering microchips with the purchase of a one-year ($20) or three-year ($40) license. For those in need, Pinellas County Animal Services will also have pet food, collars, leashes and a limited quantity of crates available. (Facebook | Newsbreak)
  • Did you know that the best age to learn how to swim is between six months and four years? Dunedin Parks & Recreation offers weekly swim lessons from June 6 to September 7 at Highlander Pool for kids starting at 6 months. (Facebook | Dunedin Gov)
  • Reminder: There's still time to sign up for the Dunedin Blue Jays baseball clinic for kids between five and 12 years old! The free clinic will be held during Play Ball Weekend on June 12 at 9:45 a.m. (Facebook | MILB.com)
  • Interested in getting involved with the City of Dunedin? Apply to become a member of the city's Stormwater Advisory Committee. The committee acts to address the needs and concerns of the City stormwater system and its environmental impacts on City drainage basins and local waterways. Learn more about joining the committee online. (Facebook | Dunedin Gov)
  • The post office located inside Vision Ace Hardware of Dunedin is closing. The last date of service there will be June 17, after which you can use the nearby Dunedin post office located at 1350 CR-1 behind the CVS/Winn-Dixie. (Facebook)
