Here are the top 3 stories today in Dunedin:
- The Dunedin Public Library is hosting a presentation titled, "The Founding of Dunedin: The Rev. Joseph Brown and the Founding of Dunedin After the Civil War" today, March 10, at 2 p.m. Stop by to learn about the Presbyterian Church’s founder, Rev. Joseph Brown, who came to Dunedin in 1868 and became an important part of our community's history. Also known as the citrus pioneer, attendees will learn who Brown was, where he came from, and what he accomplished during his 12 years of ministry. (Dunedin Gov)
- The new Dunedin City Hall building will welcome all employees and be open to the public on March 14. City Hall facilities will be closed on March 13 to allow employees to move over to the new building and make the transition. Departments relocating to the new building include the City Clerk, Communications, and Community Development, which includes Planning, Code Compliance, and the Building Divisions. Additionally, residents will find the Economic & Housing Development, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources & Risk Management, Information Technology, Utility Billing, the Office of the City Manager, and the City Commission departments in the new City Hall. City Commission meetings will continue to be held at the old building temporarily as workers finish installing the livestream broadcast system at the new facility. (Dunedin Patch)
- Wendy Barmore has been a prominent member of the Dunedin community for many years, donating her time to the Dunedin Rotary, Jolly Trolley, Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Committee, and Bay Area Concierge Association. Many residents have also seen her perform with the Wendy Barmore Band at local events and bars, making her a Dunedin icon. Even her husband, Dave, has gotten some recognition and was crowned Mardi Gras king at the last Dunedin Mardi Gras celebration. Unfortunately, a recent health emergency has prevented Wendy from taking the stage and leading the active lifestyle that allowed her to lend a hand around town. A GoFundMe page was created to help with her growing medical bills, raising over $10K of the $50K goal. Those who know Wendy or are familiar with her work around the community may want to donate to the fundraiser and help her get back on her feet. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
