Here are the top five stories in Dunedin today:
- The rising popularity of pickleball is leaving Dunedin tennis players with fewer courts to play on and creating friction between residents. It has gotten so bad that locals asked city commissioners on January 4 to build more courts to prevent animosity between tennis and pickleball players, who share some of the city courts. While the dual-use courts are temporary, it has led to overcrowding and frustration among players who've been using the courts for years. The Parks and Recreation Department's long-term plan is to build separate pickleball courts, but it doesn't seem to be soon enough. Its considering pushing the project up so construction begins sooner and the conflict gets resolved faster. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
- If you're looking to get a real-deal Philly cheesesteak in Tampa Bay then you have to go to Delco’s in Dunedin. Owners Cindi Bowers and Ed Crowley brought the taste of Philadelphia to our small town by shipping everything in from the city that put cheesesteaks on the map. Delco's brings customers back to Philly in more ways than one as the walls are lined with sports memorabilia from the Phillies, Flyers, 76ers, and the Eagles. (ABC Action News)
- A new BBQ restaurant in Safety Harbor is capturing the attention of locals for its unique and tasty menu items. The Brinehouse, which is The Dunedin Smokehouse's sister location, is currently open for dinner throughout the week and lunch on weekends. Some menu highlights include charred cauliflower florets, maple bourbon brined chicken wings, green goddess potato salad, Angus beef tri-tip steak, and Duroc pork tenderloin. Entrees come with two sides, so be sure to show up hungry! (Patch)
Doing a "Dry January" or just looking for a flavorful alternative to regular cocktails? Here's a suggestion: try a non-alcoholic drink from our partners at Betera. Created by an award-winning chef from natural botanicals, Betera’s drinks come in 3 flavors — Ginger-Orange, Elderflower-Lime and Rhubarb-Hibiscus. We tried Ginger-Orange, and it was excellent — lightly effervescent, floral with a hint of bitterness and the sippability of a cocktail.
Betera is offering readers of the Daily a 15% discount on their first order: use PATCH15 at checkout. Highly recommended — you can try Betera here.
