DUNEDIN, FL — The city of Dunedin is offering its gratitude to Stacey Hoaglund, Patricia Crist and Autism of Florida for their donation to sponsor swim lessons for three Dunedin children with autism.
Children with autism have a high attraction to water and, therefore, have higher rates of drowning.
Learning to swim is important for all children and there are many ways to help prevent drowning.

1) Provide layers of protection in your backyard pool such as pool fences, top lock gates and door alarms.
2) Use a water watcher badge for parents to rotate watching children swim.

3) Wear life jackets on boats and while at the beach. And, lastly, visit your local community pool to register your child for swim lessons.
