Here are the top 3 stories today in Dunedin:

  1. The City of Dunedin hired a design firm for the restoration of the Dunedin Golf Course. Originally designed by celebrated golf course architect Donald Ross, city commissioners selected Stantec Consulting Services of Clearwater to take on the project for just over $400,000. A memo from Stantec Consulting Services stated, "Although many changes to the course have occurred over the past century, the general routing of the Donald Ross design remains intact, and the majority of the green, tee and bunker complexes are still distinguishable and salvageable through careful restoration and grading." The estimated cost to fully restore the historic golf course is $4 million. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
  2. The 10th Annual Discover Caladesi Island Race is scheduled for Feb. 18. Participants have the option to choose between a 10 Mile Beach and Trail Race starting from Pier 60 along Clearwater Beach to the trails on Caladesi Island or a 5K Beach Race starting from Pier 60 along Clearwater Beach to the aid station. A post-race awards ceremony with food will be open to all runners. Earlybird registration is open now and will increase in the new year. All proceeds will benefit Friends of the Island Parks and the WFYRC College Scholarship Fund. (Run Sign Up)
  3. The 2023 Kiwanis - Achieva Adventure Run is scheduled for Jan. 15 at 8:30 a.m. on Honeymoon Island. Runners can choose between an 8K or 5K course. A virtual option for both distances is also available and can be completed between Jan. 9 and Jan. 15. Earlybird registration is now available online, with prices expected to increase after Jan. 2. Dunedin Cares will also be accepting food donations at the live event. Each donation provides a chance to win an exciting gift basket! (Kiwanis Adventure Run)
