Here are the top 3 stories in Dunedin today:
- The Dunedin History Museum is temporarily closed to prepare for a new executive director and reimagining of the museum. After three decades, Vincent Luisi has retired from the position. The museum board will announce a new director in the next few weeks and reopen in the fall. (Dunedin History Museum via Facebook)
- The Dunedin Music Society is holding its Percussion Ensemble Concert on Aug. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dunedin Community Center. Hosted by Alexander Guini, attendees will enjoy various drumming styles, including 1920s Ragtime and the Modern Century of Percussion Literature. Tickets are $15 for general admission or $10 for DMS members. (Dunedin Music Society)
- Did you know that the landscaping around Dunedin's new City Hall building is made up of plants that are almost entirely Florida native? According to the City of Dunedin, 98 percent of the plants are native to Florida, and 100 percent are considered Florida-friendly. Native plant species tend to be tolerant of extreme heat, which helps to support native wildlife species. The city also installed low-drip irrigation for shrubs, trees, and palms in the area, which reduces water waste by 30 percent. (City of Dunedin via Facebook)
