Here are the top three stories in Dunedin today:
- Dunedin Parks & Rec will host a Late Night Scooter Event on June 24 for kids between eight and 17. The event will be held between 7 and 10 p.m. at the MLK Jr. Recreation Center. It will include scooter competitions and awesome prizes! Kids under 13 must wear elbow and knee pads and a helmet. Registration is $10 per child. Those 14 and older are only required to wear a helmet. (Dunedin Patch)
- It has been one year since the Dunedin-based non-profit, Caregiver Wellness Collective Inc., created an LGBTQ Caregiver Center. The initiative serves LGBTQ caregivers by providing an online resource hub of relevant information and cultural competency training. The center also offers an online support group for LGBTQ caregivers, hosts webinars with experts, and engages with the community to raise awareness about LGBTQ issues and concerns. “Our community needs access to culturally competent caregiver support services, and we hope we can bridge LGBTQ caregivers to trusted resources," said one of the founders, Zander Keig. You can learn more about the LGBTQ Caregiver Center online. (TBN Weekly | LGBTQ Caregivers)
- Dunedin's annual Hometown USA event is scheduled for July 3 at TD Ballpark. The event will include live music with the Bay Kings Band, fireworks, and a showing of the film “Angels in the Outfield.” This event is free to attend with food and drink concessions available throughout the park. Free limited parking will be available at TD Ballpark, Dunedin Library and Hale Senior Activity Center. Gates open at 7 p.m. (Dunedin Gov)

- The Restorative of Dunedin shared a heartwarming story about one of their regulars on Facebook. One of the restaurant's regulars, Stephanie, liked their whipped goat cheese so much that five years ago she stopped by to have some the day she was being induced to give birth! "We think of her whenever we serve whipped goat cheese," they wrote alongside a photo of their salad topped with stuff. It's no surprise they dedicated the dish to Stephanie as well! (The Restorative via Facebook)
- The owners of Reboot of Dunedin have opened the first super-hero-themed arcade pizza bar in Clearwater. Infinity Pizza is located on McMullen Booth Road. A Grand Opening is scheduled for June 25 at 5 p.m. and will include games, prizes and plenty of pizza! (Reboot via Facebook)
- Did you know storm surges can cause major damage to your home and pose a significant threat of drowning? According to the City of Dunedin, storm surges are one of the greatest threats to life and property during a hurricane. They urge residents to listen to local officials and evacuate immediately if told to do so. Even if you don't live in an evacuation zone, be sure to stay away from floodwaters and never drive through water-covered roads. Click the link to learn more about how to be prepared for a hurricane and what your evacuation zone is. (City of Dunedin via Facebook | Dunedin Gov)
